Benefiting Schools for Niger, Africa
Schools for Niger, Africa is working diligently to help provide affordable alternatives for the children and families of Niger.
In a nation currently considered one of the poorest on Earth, government supported schooling has severely declined. This leaves many children to either go without an education or beg on the streets for money to pay for expensive private schooling. Worse yet, for those children who are able to attend elementary school, there are very few middle schools where their instruction may continue. Without the opportunity for further education, many of these children have no hope of getting jobs that may one day help raise them out of their impoverished condition.
Children are Niger's greatest resource. Yet these statistics are staggering.
IN NIGER, 24 out of 100 children die by the age of 4.
IN NIGER, 83 out of 100 children cannot read or write.
IN NIGER, there are 24,000 orphans due to AIDS/HIV.
